Boyd Gaming would not exist without the strength of our communities and that is why we are committed to giving back. Recently, Blue Chip Casino Hotel Spa offered guests an opportunity to help meet the needs of their local community.

Starting in April and running through early June, guests were encouraged to donate their unused slot machine vouchers to one of two drop boxes on the casino floor. Sand Castle Shelter for Homeless Families was chosen as the non-profit of the quarter, with 100 percent of the donations being given to the organization.

Sand Castle Shelter serves the LaPorte County area by offering 30-to-45-day residential programs to those struggling with housing security. These programs primarily serve single mothers, but also families when needed. In addition to providing short-term drug-free and alcohol-free emergency shelter, Sand Castle also assists with securing permanent housing for families and providing opportunities to build a skill set to maintain stable housing.

In total, $2,400 was collected from patron donations and the casino-resort later presented a check to Sand Castle Shelter to assist individuals as they return to sustainable self-sufficiency.
